Ron Domalewski Local: Virginia Beach (VA) Area Local, APWU PLUSS Instructor: 6 years
on Domalewski served as President, Virginia Beach Area Local for eight years and performed the duties of Chief Steward and Step 2 Designee for the Local. This has given Ron a vast amount of experience in the many levels of grievance processing. In 1988, Ron began his postal career as a Multi Position Letter Sorting Machine (MPLSM) Operator in Norfolk, VA. In 1991, he bid to and was selected as a Driver Instructor and Road Test Examiner (DI&E) in Hampton, VA until the position was abolished by the Post Office. He then became a Distribution and Window Clerk and transferred to Virginia Beach in 1995. Ron served 23 1/2 years in the Army and Army Reserve, retiring in 1999. Ron, like many of the instructors, first came to PLUSS as a student. Ron is now one of PLUSS's biggest cheerleaders. As President of the Virginia Beach Local, Ron's commitment to training was obvious. Nearly all of the Virginia Beach Executive Board has attended the Summer School, many more than once. Ron saw training as a vital part of being an officer. He wanted his Board trained well enough so that "any one of them could step into his shoes" if he chose to not seek re-election. Throughout his career, Ron has attended countless training seminars and events both in the post office and in the military. "Without a doubt", says Ron,"the Postal Labor Union Summer School is the greatest 'bang for the buck' a local can invest."
