At the
April GMM those members in attendance voted unanimously to
boycott Circuit City based on the recent despicable actions
authorized by the CEO of the company Phillip J Schoonover. The
decision made by the company was to lay off 3400 current workers
because they were making too much money. The Circuit City
Slaughter allows these long term employees, after a ten week
cooling off period, to reapply for some job in the company at an
hourly rate of $7.00. This is a 50% to 70% pay cut for most.
We are asking our members to not
patronize Circuit City and in the event you have a credit card
to strongly consider cutting it up and sending it back to the
company. If you would like we would be more than pleased to
collect the cut up cards and mail them back collectively to the
CEO. The letter that was sent to Schoonover is on the back of
this edition of the Philly Flyer.
Keep in
mind that if those in charge thought they could get away with it
we would be subject to this type of treatment. However being
represented by the American Postal Workers Union makes it a much
more difficult hurdle for the hierarchy to achieve. I will
forward this information to our National President William
Burrus requesting that our union as a whole follow suit.
Please join me in sending a
message to these inconsiderate creatures that make millions and
millions of dollars hand over fist while standing on the backs
of their workers.
Yours in Union Solidarity,
Vincent Tarducci,
President
