I've been ask this question numerous times over the course of the last couple of weeks and thought it would be best to answer it on our board to those still wondering. YES, I AM STILL ELIGIBILE TO RUN FOR OFFICE! FOR THOSE NOT AWARE I'M STILL THE LOCAL PRESIDENT AND A PA STATE REPRESENTATIVE, even though I've been issued a NOPR from the USPS. Our election committee was directed to contact the Secretary/Treasurer of the National APWU to verify those facts for those with questions regarding the issue. The black and white response was faxed to our office earlier today. Truefully if that wasn't the case management through disciplinary actions could eliminate any individual they wanted to from running for a union office; while the employee was forced to take their case to arbitration and in the mean time the election/nominations could very well be over with! Hope this answers the question for those whom weren't aware of the answer. NOTE: I hope to see numerous people attend our next meeting. Later -- Dave Note: besides nominations for local offices, I will spend some time giving an update of our newest national contract. As well as be seeking some individuals interested in serving on our local negotiations committee...locals aren't that far away again...so spend some time reviewing our local contract and provide a copy of any of your suggestions for change to one of our local officers and stewards so they can be reviewed by the committee. Thanks.
